Dental Google AdWords Video - 15 minutes to new patients
You can click on this Google video and watch in real time as I make a Google AdWords account, campaign, an ad, and a dental marketing anding page. It is a real live ad that we build and run!
The keys I show you in the video:
- Use a separate landing page for each search term. One landing page for porcelain veneers. Another for dental implants. Another for sedation dentistry. And so forth.
- (Watch me create a landing page in a few minutes and include a great photo…it is easy to create landing pages using my blogsite technology.)
- Use separate ads and separate ad groups for each concept and family of search terms.

- Make sure to create a campaign that uses Google's own geographic targeting, and another campaign that uses targeting based upon keywords the prospective patient types in.
- And always put your office location in the ad to prevent people who are out of your area from clicking on your ad and costing you a lot of money.
Okay. So. NowI want to explain what I don't like about Google AdWords for dentists.
I do want to preface this by saying that I spend and have spent countless tens of thousands of dollars on AdWords. AdWords for dentists, AdWords for psychologists and AdWords for lots of other professions.
So I am not against AdWords.
But here are two things that you need to realize. One, is that AdWords is paid on a mini auction basis. Every time someone types in keywords that you are "buying", Google runs a mini auction and decides which ads to show the user. Then if the user clicks, Google charges top dollar for that click.
When you buy AdWords you pay a maximum amount per click because Google makes sure you have to out-bid all your competitors for every click.
If your dental Google ad gets a high click through rate, you can spend less money on a click. So optimizing your ad is worthwhile. But in general, you compete with all your competitors on every click.
Second, there are only so many clicks for a given set of search keywords. So the more dentists pile on in your area, the fewer clicks each will get. The only solution is to raise the maximum amount you are willing to pay per click. And this gets expensive.
I have written some good advice on getting dental patients via AdWords.
