Keywords for Dentists: How to use keywords in your articles

Lots has been written about using keywords. They are the heart of Internet marketing.

By keyword, I mean a combination of frequently used words. So a keyword would be "dentist" but also would be "Richmond cosmetic dentist" if that is your situation. Keywords should be called keyphrases but we usually only call them keywords.dentist_hands_prepping_implants.jpg

Here are a few rules for writing using keywords to optimize your articles for search engines including Google.

IFirst, research keywords carefully. This is a whole science and I can't get into all the details. But you must research keywords and come up with a list first thing.

What you want are keywords that are going to actually be used by dental patients looking for a dentist. What other kind are there?

There are three types of keywords.

  • Keywords used by dental patients who are simply doing research, perhaps for someone else. They are not in the market and not planning on being in the market for dentistry.
  • Keywords used by dental patients who are thinking about dentistry but not yet in the market. They will be entering the market. But not yet.
  • Keywords used by dental patients who are looking for a dentist.

Generally what you want are keywords used by people who are looking for a dentist, provided you are paying for clicks. If you are writing articles and dental blogs then you may also want to use keywords used by people who are not yet in the market. full_smile_crooked_teeth.jpg

Okay, now you need to create an article around a single keyword. One page, one keyword. Never more than one. This is a very fixed rule. One article, one keyword (remember it is really a phrase), one page on your website.

A web page can only be optimized for one keyword. Not two. Not ten. One.

Finally, pick a good natural sounding title. Make the title part of the URL in your web page. And put it in the "meta" tags on the page.

Remember that word order counts, but you can have words in between the words in your keywords.

Ideally you want to write articles constantly. If you are consistent, your traffic will grow from no visitors to 2 or 3 to 5 or 10 to 20 to 40 per day. Just by being consistent, optimizing one article per page per keyword, pinging, using social media and promoting and building backlinks…you can be a master Internet marketer.
