Quickfix #1: Raise your dental website rankings on Google with this simple trick
The #1 complaint I hear from dentists is their websites aren’t producing enough patients. In this Quick Fix article I will explain what you can do today to start getting new patients from your existing dental practice website.
In short, a quick fix for your website.
A quick fix is a very specific instruction or piece of knowledge that helps you in one area.
My quick fixes in this and future articles will be stuff you can implement today that will start getting you either more patients, or new cases from existing patients.
Just so you know who I am…I helped launch the world’s first really popular intraoral video camera. I worked with thousands of dentists and I have written an all time bestselling book on case acceptance and dental marketing. I am an expert in dental practice marketing and dental website advertising.
Today we are going to discuss how to fix up your website to get more people to become patients. I will focus on what works, why it works, and what you can do today to put this quick fix into practice.
Backlinks get you high rankings on Google
The first thing you need to understand is that Google puts you nearer to the top in a given search if you have backlinks.
Backlinks are links from other sites to yours.
A link includes several parts. The part that a user sees is called anchor text. The hidden part is the address (and sometimes other information) that the user will go to if she clicks.
Backlinks are the secret to getting high ranking on Google. You can have quantities of backlinks, but more important is the quality of backlinks.
What makes a good quality backlink?
A good quality backlink is from a high authority site. That means not your next door neighbor’s free website that was done in twenty minutes when he was in high school. A high authority site is recognized by Google as a very important site.
Google.com is a high authority site.
So, if you have a backlink from one of those sites, that will create a much higher importance for that backlink.
So one thing you can do is build a bunch of backlinks to your site. But be careful not to make a mistake.
Do-it-yourself guide to building dental website backlinks
So let’s say your website is:
Then what you do is, you link to www.HawaiiSurferDental.com/about_cavities.html
That beats a link back to just the homepage.
This type of link, that is to somewhere deep in your website, is called a deep link. It has more value than just a link to your homepage.
But we aren’t done. We can build even more value by making the link come from an article that contains information about, well, cavities.
Ideally, you write a little article or a few paragraphs. Put those paragraphs on a high authority website. And link to a page on your own dental practice website that is about that exact topic.
So write a few paragraphs about cavities. Then post those articles on a free website like Myspace. And put a link back to a page deep in your website about cavities.
That is the essence of creating backlinks, something that is a quick fix that you can follow.
The Quick Quickfix: How to build backlinks for yourself
- Pick a topic and write a few paragraphs about it. I suggest topics such as veneers, implants or other high value dentistry.
- Go to a website like Myspace, and create an account for yourself.
- Paste the paragraphs into the Myspace account.
- Use the Myspace editor to build a backlink to somewhere on your site, a specific page about your topic.
- Repeat this every day or two, or once per week.
You will see that your website will gain rankings on Google with this simple trick.
