Dental advertising blogs dental leads

Here is what you need to do, when you are thinking about improving your results from web marketing. Let's come up with a game plan, okay?

You want to have a good website as a brochure for your practice. This brochure-type website can be fancy. It can show photos of you and your office team and answer people's questions about dentistry in your practice.

When you get a website from a dental marketing company, you have to think of the website as an internal marketing tool. What do I mean by that? I mean it will help you if you give the website out to patients. Put it on your bills and newsletters. Promote it in your office.

But don't expect to get a lot of Google organic search traffic out of your brochure website….

Why brochure websites are not so good at getting organic search traffic

A brochure website doesn't have fresh content all the time. So the search engines won't be as interested and won't come around all the time.

And, a brochure website will have a lot of duplicate content. If you go with a dental website company, they will provide you with content around veneers and crown and bridge and periodontal therapy and so forth. But that content is also placed on all the other dentists' websites that your website company serves.Fotolia_4754124_S.jpg

There is nothing wrong with duplicate content, except

Google filters out duplicate content

As a rule, Google will only want to mention an article once. If it is duplicated on many other sites, Google will not be interested in ranking each site where that content appears. This is not a penalty. It is rather a filter. A duplicate content filter. All the search engines use them. It's why you can't put out a press release and then Google it and see it on 100 sites.

You need original content to make a high ranking consistently on Google and Yahoo and MSN. It has to be fresh and it has to be original.

But your brochure website is still valuable for getting patient referrals and for convincing someone to become a patient when that person has been given your name, or seen your sign, or seen another ad you have out there.

But if you want to go beyond the brochure site in order to rank high on Google, you need something else…

Dental blog and dental social media promotion for new patients from the Internet

You need a good blog with consistent fresh and original articles. And you need that blog to ping and you need that blog to be discussed on the social media sites.

And you need still one more thing. Because you don't want to practice drive-by marketing.

How to build your own in-house list for continued streams of new patients

Once you pay to get people to your website through blogs and social media, you have one more thing to do. That is to recognize that there is a "sales cycle" to dentistry, especially the type of high end cosmetic dentistry you want to do more of.

People think about getting veneers and crown and bridge done, but they wait. They wait until the right time, typically when there is some change in their life, such as a wedding or family reunion. Perhaps a new job.

If you pay to get them to your site, chances are they are not quite ready. Some of them that are ready will call your front desk. But that is only a small percentage. The rest are eager for your dentistry but not quite yet.
